The man, who was one of the many mourners present at the funeral, must have been moved by this to rush in and get past the security personnel in order to speak to Machogu.
Locals cheered in admiration of the man’s audacious action as the commotion delighted them, and it eventually brought him to the notice of the Education Cabinet Secretary.
According to accounts, the unnamed individual later received letters from the CS, suggesting that his search for employment may have ended.
In October 2022, President William Ruto announced the government will hire at least 30,000 teachers beginning January 2023. The move is aimed at closing the prevailing teacher shortage in primary and secondary schools. The current shortage is partly attributed to natural attrition. The soon-to-be TSC replacement process will bridge the gap and improve the quality of education in the country. Recruitment will be done by the TSC.
