The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has intensified its fight against corruption by carrying out coordinated raids targeting Josphat Gichunge Kabeabea, the board chair of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority. The operation marks a major step in an active investigation focusing on allegations of bribery, extortion, and the possession of wealth that cannot be explained through known income sources.

EACC officers conducted the searches early in the morning at several locations linked to Kabeabea. The sites included his home and different offices where he conducts his official and private activities. The simultaneous nature of the raids was meant to secure evidence before it could be moved or interfered with. Investigators collected documents, gadgets, and other materials that will now undergo analysis as part of the ongoing inquiry.

The case has drawn attention because of the position Kabeabea holds. As chair of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority, he oversees a body responsible for fighting the production and sale of fake goods in the country. Any corruption claims involving such an office raise serious concerns about the integrity of the institution and its ability to enforce the law.

So far, Kabeabea has not issued any public response to the operation. The Anti-Counterfeit Authority has also remained silent, likely waiting for more details from the investigators. The silence has created anticipation as the public looks for clarity on the accusations and their possible impact on the agency’s operations.
