Everose Obwaka, the widow of the late Dr Job Obwaka, has made her first public appearance since her husband’s passing.
She was seen at Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi during the postmortem examination, accompanied by close family members, including Dr William Obwaka, the deceased’s younger brother.
The appearance came as pathologists released preliminary findings indicating that the prominent obstetrician and hospital board member died from cardiac arrest linked to a long-standing heart condition.
The examination was conducted jointly by Chief Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor and the family’s representative, Dr Joseph Ndung’u.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Dr William Obwaka said they had accepted the initial findings and expressed confidence in the process, noting that their own expert had participated in the autopsy.
He added that while the results provided some clarity, further tests were still necessary to complete the investigation.
Authorities confirmed that toxicology analysis is ongoing, with samples taken from the body as well as items recovered from the residence where Dr Obwaka was found unresponsive on May 1.
Results are expected in about three weeks and are expected to provide a fuller account of the circumstances surrounding his death.
Meanwhile, Beatrice Wangari, who was the last known person to be with the doctor, remains in custody at Kilimani Police Station as a person of interest.
Her legal team has called for her release, arguing that the preliminary medical findings do not support earlier concerns about possible foul play.
However, investigators have maintained that the inquiry remains active until all forensic results are received.Source: NTV Kenya
A Kibera court allowed detectives to continue holding Wangari until May 14 to complete their investigations, citing public interest and safety concerns.
The case has drawn significant attention, with authorities urging patience as the process continues.
The family’s public appearance and response mark a significant moment in the unfolding investigation, as they await final results to bring clarity to the circumstances of Dr Obwaka’s death.
