Kakamega County Senator, Honorable Bonnie Khalwale, has strongly criticized a section of Kikuyu leaders, including former Deputy President Honorable Rigathi Gachagua.

He argued that it is not mandatory for them to be part of every government. Khalwale condemned these leaders for attacking Health Cabinet Secretary Honorable Deborah Mulongo over the ongoing Social Health Authority (SHA) crisis.

He emphasized that Mulongo is a well-qualified doctor and deserves respect in her role.

Khalwale defended Mulongo, stating that the issues surrounding SHA should not be blamed on her but rather addressed through proper government policies.

He pointed out that healthcare reforms require collective responsibility rather than political attacks on individuals.

According to Khalwale, Mulongo’s medical expertise qualifies her to handle the challenges in the health sector, and leaders should support her instead of undermining her efforts.

Furthermore, Khalwale urged leaders to focus on constructive discussions that will help solve the SHA crisis rather than politicizing the matter.

He reiterated that every professional in government should be respected and allowed to execute their mandate without unnecessary political interference.

His remarks reflect his stand on professionalism in governance and the need for leaders to prioritize service delivery over personal political interests.
