Diana Chepkemoi, the girl who caught the attention of Kenyans after she posted her worrying photos from Saudi Arabia is back in the country.
Diana who was received by her family at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport was reunited with her parents after the Kenyan government took note of her after images of her looking emaciated surfaced online.
Narrating her ordeal at the hands of her employers, said she had left Kenya for Saudi Arabia with the hopes that she could raise her school fees so that she can continue with her university education at Meru University of Science and Technology.
Shortly after checking out of the arrival terminal, Chepkemoi briefly narrated her ordeal while in the gulf country saying that her woes began the first day she arrived at her employer’s home.
She told the journalist that she was happy being back home but was still disturbed because of the state she left her fellow Kenyans working there.
According to her, Kenyan workers in Saudi Arabia are suffering because of the physical and psychological torture they are being subjected to by their employers.
She pleaded with the government to act swiftly and help Kenyan women working in Saudi Arabia as she described the torture they were going through as not fair and shameful being told by their own government that there is nothing they can do about their state.
“If I can just be honest, my case was just the tip of the iceberg people are suffering there. I plead with the government to do something, people there are being mentally tortured and its a shame being told that your government can do,” she said.
