Diamond Platnumz has denied claims that money makes him famous.
During an interview with BBC Swahili, the ‘Naanzaje’ hitmaker, said that his talent was the reason he is one of the most successful and famous artists in East Africa.
“Even when I didn’t have money, people still loved my first songs like Mbaghala.”
He added;
“I am talented and that is why my music sells. It’s not coz am rich. I have in the process learnt how to invest in that talent.”
Diamond said that he no longer wants to participate in local awards as they are not fairly conducted. He noted that he is focusing on winning international awards and not local ones.

He said winning an international award will open doors for other Tanzanian singers to be recognised in the global market.
“…Tanzanian artistes are always competing which should not be the case. You don’t have to talk ill about me or insult me to thrive,” he said.
“Why should we have harmony while working but once you leave, you start insulting me? We need to make our president proud of our work. We need to support them rather than beefing.”
