Tanzanian comedian Coy Mzungu February 26 rode off Cheka TU Mzizima Edition with a brand new car courtesy of WasafI Media, a brainchild of Bongo Flava superstar and entrepreneur Diamond Platnumz.
Coy was handed keys to the car by Platnumz, who Friday made a surprise appearance at the sold-out show held in Milimani City, Dar es Salaam. Wasafi was one of the main sponsors of the event headlined by Churchill Show sensation, Mammito Eunice.
“My apologies [for interrupting this], I was just passing by and wanted to thank you for turning up to support this industry. I believe that with God’s will, it’ll be even bigger. Above all, I have a gift from Wasafi group and comic world for Cheka Tu. I have been asked to gift Coy a car. Coy had no idea I was to do this; I just decided to come to surprise him. Coy, in truth, is doing a great job. He is propelling standup to greater heights and our job, as the youth, is to support him,” said Platnumz.
Coy’s gift is the latest in the singer’s philanthropic moves. Platnumz brought Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) signee Zuchu to tears on Live TV in July 2020 after he honoured her with a car in celebration of her exceptional breakout year.
“My God, I just want to say thank you. Bless my boss and add unto him for this big thing he has added to my life. It’s not everyone who has a heart like yours my boss and there is no way I can pay you back. My brother, in all honesty, there is really no way I can return this gesture. I pray that God adds you many years full of His blessings. Thank you, boss,” said Zuchu at the time.

The daughter of Taarab legend Khadija Kopa added: “I’d like to give a big thank you to Diamond Platnumz’s mother. She has brought forth from her womb something good. My thank you goes to you, Diamond. There is nothing I can say other than thank you. If there was another word to replace that I would use it but there isn’t so thank you so much, my son. You and your record label WCB have nurtured my daughter so well. Today Zuchu has become such a big name, thanks to you.”
That same month, his ex, Zari Hassan, thanked him for ‘topping up’ cash for her to buy a brand new Bentley. “Sante baba T for the top-up,” she posted in her Insta-story.
In 2019, he gifted his mother Sanura Kassim and then-fiancé Tanasha Donna with identical Land Cruisers. He had a year earlier also spared no cost when he splashed over Sh6 million on new Toyota Harriers for his record label signees; Mbosso and Lavalava.
