A Social Media war between Kenya and Tanzania could be about to go down after a couple of controversial comments which emanated from a TZ producer. Kenyan artists as well as comedian Eric Omondi have moved to react to the Tanzanian producer’s sentiments.
The producer who goes by the name Master J, revealed that Diamond Platnumz earned more money all top Kenyan artists combined. In all fairness, Diamond did earn 100,000 dollars when performing for Azimio movement leader Raila Odinga this year. That translates to more than ksh10 million. Hence, it is clear that Diamond earns more money than any Kenyan artist alive today.
However, when it comes to earning more than A-list artists Nyashinki and Sauti Sol alone, have been unable to organize festivals that have been a huge success. Let’s not even mention Khaligraph Jones, Otile or Bahati. If all those artist’s performance fees can be added, they would match if not beat Diamond’s earnings in one show.
Be that as it may, Kenyan artists do have a long way to go before reaching Diamond’s level. Although the likes of KRG the don tend to disagree by adding that Tanzanians are only good at branding, Diamond Platnumz is on a whole other level.
