Residents of Kisii County are currently holding demonstrations in response to the persecution of former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi. This is in response to earlier claims that he had been targeted out by authorities due to his alleged opposition to specific government initiatives.
The Kisii people have united to support the former CS and demand that the government cease punishing him and treat him with respect.
According to them, such actions are not in the interest of the country and rather serve to further destroy public faith in the administration.
The administration is coming under pressure from them to respect him and stop tormenting him in any way.
Matiangi’s contribution to Kenyan politics and his standing as a well-known public figure, according to the protesters, must be acknowledged.
Just today, citizens of Kisii County staged a forceful protest to demand that full justice be served and to provide an explanation of the circumstances behind the police raid on the residence of former chief of security Fred Matiangi.
