A decomposing body of a 22-year-old student from Embu University has been discovered in a coffee farm in Ngiriambu location, Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, days after she went missing. The student disappeared on Sunday, 16th November, after visiting Kiamutugu market with a friend.

According to the friend who had accompanied her that day, the two had spent part of the afternoon at a local pub before preparing to head back home. It was during this time that two men riding a motorbike approached and picked the student. She left with them, and that was the last time she was seen alive. She never made it home that evening, raising concern among family members and friends who later reported her disappearance.

Residents of Ngiriambu were thrown into shock when a farmer came across the body in his coffee plantation. The body was already decomposing, showing clear signs of a violent attack. The student’s hand had been chopped off, one of her breasts removed, and acid had been poured on her face. Her hair had also been forcefully plucked out, painting a picture of severe torture before death. Early indicators also pointed to sexual assault.

Local authorities cordoned off the scene as investigators collected evidence. Police officers noted that the nature of the injuries suggested that the attack was planned and executed with extreme cruelty. Detectives have already started tracing the last movements of the student and are following leads provided by the friend who was with her earlier in the day.

The discovery has caused fear and outrage in the area, with residents calling for swift action and better security measures to prevent similar cases. Many have urged the police to speed up investigations, arrest the culprits, and ensure justice is served.

The body was moved to a nearby morgue awaiting a post-mortem examination, which will help determine the exact cause of death and provide more clues for investigators. The family, friends, and the university community have been left in deep pain, struggling to come to terms with the brutal killing of a young student whose future was cut short in the most heartbreaking manner.
