Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) aspirant for the Laikipia West parliamentary seat Simon Mburu was reportedly involved in a road accident at Kwa Wanjiku Centre along the Nyahururu-Kinamba Road on Thursday night, October 22.
Mburu, popularly known as Uncle, was travelling in a vehicle that collided with a tractor at the location. Images circulating from the scene showed extensive damage to the front of his vehicle following the collision.
The tractor was also pictured overturned and damaged after the crash. The circumstances surrounding the accident remained unclear, as authorities had not released an official account explaining what led to the collision.
Reports circulating after the incident indicated that Mburu was safe. However, authorities had not independently confirmed his condition or provided details about the wellbeing of other people who may have been involved in the accident.
A second collision involving other vehicles was reportedly witnessed at the same location moments later, further complicating the situation and contributing to congestion as members of the public gathered at the scene.
Police officers and members of the public were reported to have assisted those affected while traffic officers worked to control congestion along the road. Investigations into the circumstances of the incidents were still pending.
The accident involving the DCP aspirant occurred on the same night that a separate multi-vehicle crash was reported at Salgaa along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, where several vehicles were badly damaged.
Footage from Salgaa showed wrecked vehicles scattered across the road, with some overturned as motorists remained stranded in traffic. Authorities had not confirmed the number of vehicles involved or whether the crash caused any casualties.
The two incidents have renewed attention on road safety, although it remained unclear whether the crashes were connected. No official statement had been issued confirming the full circumstances of Mburu’s accident or the injuries, if any.
