The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have warned Kenyans against some people who are allegedly planning to take advantage of the protesters planned by the youthful population, the Gen Zs.

In a statement released by DCI on Monday morning, the DCI now says that there are number of people, are planning to use the planned peaceful protests to loot the property and business that belongs to other Kenyans.

DCI confirmed that they have received a number of CCTV footages and are now working hard to find the suspected looters who took advantage of the planned protests. The statement has also confirmed that some of these criminals have been arrested and arraigned to courts across the country.

“Whereas some have already been arrested and arraigned in various courts today, more are still out there on the streets waiting for other opportune times to strike again, causing more damage and risking the lives of innocent citizens caught up in the course of quelling the crimes.” Reads part of the statement.

“We can flush them from amongst our numbers because they do not share the principles that define what we stand for, and more so for the sake of those who did not deserve to lose their only means of livelihood in this manner.” It added

This statement comes barely hours ahead of the nationwide anti-government protests that are scheduled for Tuesday, the second day of July 2024.
