Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has once again stirred public debate after accusing a DCI officer of being involved in the death of a woman at Nanyuki Police Station. Through a direct post on social media, Njiru named Job Otieno Ojwang as the officer linked to the death of Julia Njoki Kariuki, who reportedly died while in custody.

Njiru described Julia as an innocent person who lost her life due to police abuse. He expressed frustration with how the case has been handled by the authorities, claiming that instead of seeking justice, the system chose silence. His post appeared to challenge the leadership of the DCI and the National Police Service for allowing rogue officers to continue serving.

By taking the issue to the public, Njiru hopes to force action from state institutions. He also revealed plans to push for private prosecution if the matter is not addressed. This move signals a growing trend where individuals pursue justice outside the usual government channels.

The death of Julia Njoki has now become a symbol of wider concerns about the treatment of suspects in police cells. Over the years, similar cases have been reported, with few resulting in convictions. Many Kenyans feel that investigations often end without clear answers or accountability.
