In the aftermath of an audacious heist that unfolded on Monday, November 6th, involving the theft of an astonishing Ksh 94 million, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has taken a significant step in unmasking the perpetrators. This high-stakes caper implicated two individuals, namely Daniel Mungai Mugetha, who served as the crew commander, and Anthony Nduiki Waigumo, who assumed the role of the designated driver.
Reports emerging from this intriguing case reveal a series of events that unfolded with astounding audacity. It all transpired as the funds were securely loaded into an Isuzu Canter truck at the company’s Nairobi offices, and the two suspects sneaked out of the offices without notice. Shockingly, the audacious move took place even as the police escort vehicle awaited to accompany the delivery, unbeknownst to the armed escort team.
The escort team, upon realizing that the truck, bearing registration no. KBA 517T, had surreptitiously departed mere moments earlier, was compelled to approach the company’s management to inquire about the delay in the loading process. To their astonishment, they discovered that neither the truck nor its crew members could be located.
Sources privy to this case have informed our news desk that a report submitted by the company’s Investigations Manager shed light on the intended destination of the Isuzu Canter. It was en route to a bank situated on Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi, bearing the considerable sum of Ksh 94 million, intended for a prominent supermarket chain in the country.
In the wake of this dramatic incident, the police department in Lang’ata rapidly mobilized its forces to pursue the daring duo. However, their intensive efforts led them to discover the abandoned truck in South C, Nairobi, with the suspects notably absent. Subsequently, a specialized task force has been deployed, committed to a relentless pursuit of the individuals behind this astonishing theft, who currently remain at large.
As this thrilling heist saga unfolds, all eyes are on the ongoing investigation and the pursuit of justice in the quest to apprehend the daring culprits and recover the stolen funds.
