Fresh details have emerged linking a woman seen with quantity surveyor Edgar Mokua before his death to a separate KSh 500,000 theft case in Ruiru.
Mokua, 53, a quantity surveyor and lecturer at the Technical University of Kenya, was found dead in Roysambu days after a night out in Lavington.
He was last seen alive on the evening of July 7, when he left his Lavington home and spent hours at Kettle Club with two men and a woman.
The group later moved to Ibiza Club at Lavington Mall, where his companions left him alone, marking the last confirmed sighting of him.
When Mokua failed to return home, his family filed a missing persons report at Muthangari Police Station.
The following morning, an unidentified body was discovered near Woodcreek Academy in Roysambu and later identified by his family as Mokua’s.
A postmortem examination returned an inconclusive cause of death, with toxicology results pending.
Investigators found that KSh 300,000 had been transferred from Mokua’s phone to a woman’s account in the hours before his body was found.
Five days later, a businessman in Ruiru reported a similar experience, saying a woman approached him at a bar before he lost consciousness.
He woke up hours later to find his phone, wallet and cash missing, and later discovered KSh 500,000 had been transferred from his mobile money account.
Detectives who reviewed CCTV footage established that the woman seen with the Ruiru businessman was the same person captured with Mokua before his disappearance.
Police believe the woman is working with a male associate and a second woman as an organised gang targeting wealthy men in bars.
The trio has reportedly abandoned their known addresses, though the owner of a vehicle allegedly used to dump Mokua’s body has been arrested.
