A day after the long-time journalist on political affairs, Macharia Gaitho, was kidnapped by people believed to be security officers while at the Karen police station, Nairobi, the directorate of criminal investigation has finally revealed the real Gaitho they were looking for. According to the reports posted by NTV Kenya, DCI presented former journalist Francis Gaitho before a Milimani law court after he was apprehended at the offices of the directorate of criminal investigation, where he presented himself.
Francis Gaitho presented himself before DCI officers after reports emerged that he was being sought after by detectives following his recent posts on a social media. According to a charge sheet that was presented before the presiding judge, Gaitho is accused of misusing the cyber space by publishing false information which is against the cyber security act, which was recently implemented.
Gaitho was granted a cash bail of Kenya Shillings 30, 000 and is expected to appear before Court in coming days for the mentioning of the matter which according to the directorate of criminal investigation is under investigation. This comes a day after the DCI apologized on Wednesday for mistakenly arresting Macharia Gaitho. Macharia was abducted in Kasarani police station where he had escaped to seek help from.
