The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has revealed a police officer’s connection to the murder of Dr. Victoria Mutiso, who was fatally shot by armed assailants in Nairobi.
On July 7, 2026, DCI Director Amin Mohamed disclosed that Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang, the officer in charge of Nderi Police Post, is a significant player in the conspiracy and is currently on the run.
Amin stated that investigations have determined that Daniel Mwangi Njoroge and Kelvin Ngugi Kinithia orchestrated and carried out the murder.
Inspector Sang is alleged to have acted as the intermediary between the financiers and the operational team, in addition to providing the weapon used in the crime.
The two suspects are currently in custody as detectives continue to explore other leads, including identifying the financiers and recovering the firearm utilized in the shooting.
The murder of Dr. Mutiso has sparked widespread outrage across the nation, with demands for accountability and justice.
The DCI has called on anyone with information regarding Inspector Sang’s location to report to the nearest police station, assuring that all individuals involved will be prosecuted, irrespective of their rank.
Reports from the DCI headquarters in Nairobi indicate that each of the men associated with the murder was allegedly promised Sh100,000 for their participation in the operation.
However, detectives have found that the suspects had not received the promised payment by the time of their arrest on Wednesday.
Investigators are said to believe that the intended payments were part of a broader scheme to finance the execution of the alleged murder plot.
Furthermore, detectives disclosed that individuals suspected of orchestrating the murder aimed to raise approximately Sh1.5 million to compensate those who were allegedly recruited to execute the operation.
