The mystery surrounding the disappearance and death of a quantity surveyor and Technical University of Kenya (TUK) lecturer has taken a dramatic turn after detectives arrested the man believed to be behind the brutal killing.
According to the DCI, Edgar Mokua vanished on July 6, 2026, after leaving his home at Princes Park in Lavington around 4:20 p.m.
His family grew anxious when he failed to return, and after repeated calls went unanswered, they reported his disappearance at Muthangari Police Station.
Five days later, their worst fears were confirmed. Mokua’s body was discovered at the City Mortuary, having been recovered near Woodcreek Academy by officers from Kiamumbi Police Station.
Because of the suspicious circumstances, homicide detectives took charge of the case. Their investigation revealed that on the night Mokua went missing, he had been socializing with two men and a woman at Kettle Club in Lavington before the group moved to Ibiza Club at Lavington Mall.
His companions eventually left, leaving him behind. That was the last time he was seen alive.
Forensic experts later traced a grey Toyota Ractis, registration KBZ 002R, suspected to have ferried and dumped his body before speeding away.
An intensive manhunt led detectives to Ruiru Blue Estate, where they arrested Richard Gikuhe Mbugua. The suspected vehicle was also recovered at Murera Farm in Juja and seized as evidence.
Mbugua remains in custody as detectives finalize investigations before arraignment. Authorities say inquiries are ongoing to determine whether others were involved and to uncover the motive behind the shocking crime.
