Biket

Mary Biketi, known for her public engagements and philanthropic work, was recently seen at a high-profile forum for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants held at State House. The event, attended by over 12,000 hopefuls, drew attention to Biketi’s possible political ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.

During the meeting, Biketi sat among the crowd, observing proceedings attentively. Her presence did not go unnoticed, given her relationship with former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, a senior ODM leader. Social media users quickly began speculating whether she could be positioning herself for a UDA ticket, despite Oparanya’s long-standing affiliation with ODM.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki announced that UDA had attracted 12,353 aspirants nationwide. The majority, 10,230, are competing for ward representative positions, while 149 are seeking gubernatorial seats, 279 eye Senate races, and 323 are vying for women’s representative roles. Biketi’s attendance among such a large group of aspirants has added fuel to the speculation of her political intentions.

Biketi first gained public attention in 2024 and has since been building her profile through community engagements. In April 2025, she visited Trans Nzoia County as part of the Mary Biketi Foundation, carrying out a philanthropic outreach. Her arrival was marked by a colorful convoy of boda boda riders wearing the foundation’s branded jackets. She interacted warmly with residents, waving from her vehicle and addressing crowds, an appearance widely shared on social media.
