Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has made a notable political appearance in Wamunyoro, Mathira Constituency, where he was received by large crowds during an inspection tour of infrastructure projects in Nyeri County.
Kindiki was accompanied by Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga, MPs Eric Wamumbi, Duncan Mathenge and Njoroge Wainaina, as well as several MCAs and other local leaders.
His visit to Wamunyoro, an area associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, attracted significant attention as residents gathered along the route of his motorcade.
Addressing the crowd from the sunroof of his vehicle, Kindiki joined supporters in political chants, with the crowd repeatedly chanting “Tutam” in reference to their support for President William Ruto’s bid for a second term in the 2027 General Election.
The political engagement came alongside Kindiki’s inspection of road projects across Nyeri County. Among the projects highlighted was the Mung’etho-Thuthwa-Gathugu-Gakiti road in Mathira.
The government has allocated Sh45 billion for the upgrading of 775 kilometres of roads across the region, with the projects aimed at improving transport, supporting agriculture and stimulating local economic activity.
Kindiki’s reception in Wamunyoro comes as political activity intensifies in the Mount Kenya region ahead of the 2027 elections.
