Two suspected thugs were last night shot dead in a botched robbery incident in Kayole area, Nairobi.
Police and witnesses say the men were in the company of two others and had been attacking and robbing pedestrians when an alarm was raised alerting police on patrol. The officers shot and killed the two while the other accomplices managed to escape on foot. A man who had been stabbed during the robbery was rushed to the hospital and attended in stable condition while the bodies were moved to the mortuary.
An Mpesa attendant was last evening shot and wounded before being robbed of Sh150,000 and other valuables.
Police and witnesses said the attendant had closed his shop and was leaving for his home along Digo Road when he was confronted by gunmen who were riding on a motorcycle and shot in the knee. The gang grabbed the cash and other electronic gadgets before escaping to unknown destination. Police say they suspect the gang had prior information the man was carrying the money and the hunt on them is ongoing.
Police are investigating an incident where a 57 year old man died by suicide in a hotel room he had booked in Parklands area, Nairobi.
The body of the man was found dangling on a belt that he is suspected to have used to commit the suicide. The hotel says he booked into the room on April 2 and has been staying there alone until last evening when the body was found there. Police are investigating if he died by suicide or he was killed and hanged there.
Two workers were electrocuted in two separate incidents in Nairobi. The victims were at construction sites in Langata and Kayole respectively when they touched live wires dying on the spot. Police were called to the scenes long after they had happened and picked up the bodies to the mortuary. Such incidents are rampant at construction sites amid calls to ensure safety of workers.
