The Jubilee Party has entered a new political phase following the resignation of longtime official Polycarp Hinga. His departure came shortly after the party’s leadership confirmed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as Deputy Party Leader and its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
In a statement released on October 30, 2025, Hinga said he was content with his years of service and proud of his contribution to Jubilee’s growth. He noted that the time had come to step aside and allow new leaders to take the party forward.
Hinga’s exit closes a decade-long chapter in which he played an active role in shaping Jubilee’s policies and national image. During his time in the secretariat, he helped steer the party through multiple elections and internal transitions, making him one of its most experienced administrators.
Party officials view his resignation as part of the broader restructuring process that began soon after Fred Matiang’i’s entry into top leadership. The National Executive Council recently endorsed Matiang’i to lead Jubilee into the 2027 race, marking a significant shift in the party’s direction and leadership style.
According to insiders, the council’s endorsement was unanimous. Members believe Matiang’i’s administrative record and national visibility give Jubilee a strong chance of re-establishing itself as a major political force.
Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has emphasized that the party’s immediate focus is on rebuilding its grassroots network. Plans are underway to recruit new members, strengthen local branches, and restore the confidence of supporters who had drifted away in recent years.
