Electronic Identification Cards ” Maisha namba” that had been proposed by the national government has been brought to a complete stop today by the court.

According to the government, the E-identification cards will assist to store the Kenyans information in a more organized way. The registration process involves taking facial picture, biometrics i.e fingerprints and some background information like the date of birth of the registered individual.

Upon suspense of the electronic identification cards, the government has officially been barred from registering Kenyans on the same. Several reasons were highlighted as to why the court suspended E-identification cards.

Among the reasons that were given by the court, is the issue security of data for Kenyans. Since the E-identification cards will be operating mostly online, the fears of being exploited by hackers has been identified hence making the process insecure for Kenyans.
