Popular Kenyan content creator Andrew Kibe was left red-faced after a brutal live roast by comedienne Ruth Nyambura. During the roast show, Nyambura made fun of Kibe’s past, including his failed career attempts, controversial opinions, and time in the US.
In a viral video, Nyambura took to the stage and jokingly claimed she didn’t need to roast Kibe herself, but only needed to read the harsh comments from women on his social media posts. “One comment from a user named Shosh reads, ‘Thank you for changing my life.’ That was one of the old women he was washing in America,” she joked. “He left the US to come wash more old women in Diani because coconut oil is cheaper than baby oil,” she added, leaving the crowd in stitches.
Nyambura continued her roast by mocking Kibe’s failed app “Yafreeka”, his short-lived radio career, and his dreams of becoming a Lang’ata MP. “Kibe is a household name, but he can’t even keep a household,” she said. “He came to this show just to see what a successful event looks like.”
She also touched on Kibe’s past life as a devout Christian. “He used to fast, but now the only fasting happening is his hairline,” she joked.
The most savage line of the night was when Nyambura said, “The last time Kibe was successful was when he was a sperm.” She concluded that only broke boys with no father figures follow Kibe religiously.
Throughout the show, Kibe looked uncomfortable and was seen tightly gripping his beer glass as the audience laughed loudly at each punchline.
This roast came shortly after another celebrity, Kabi wa Jesus, faced a similar grilling from comedians. In his roast, jokes were made about him having a child with his cousin, which left his wife Milly visibly uncomfortable during the show.
Kibe, known for his controversial takes and bashing celebrities online, finally got a taste of his own medicine – and Kenyans online had mixed reactions.
