Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has firmly denied any involvement in an ongoing dispute over the estate of a late Nyeri governor, distancing himself from claims linking him to the contentious matter.

The legislator has instead called for a meeting with President William Ruto, seeking a structured and amicable resolution.

In a statement addressing the issue, Wamumbi described the allegations as misleading and damaging to his reputation.

He emphasized that he has no personal interest in the estate and has not participated in any dealings concerning the property in question.

According to him, his name has been dragged into the dispute unfairly, creating unnecessary political and public tension.

The estate row, which has attracted public attention, reportedly involves disagreements among beneficiaries and stakeholders over ownership and management of assets linked to the late governor.

Such disputes are not uncommon in Kenya, where inheritance issues often become complex due to legal, familial, and sometimes political factors.

Eric Wamumbi’s appeal for presidential intervention signals the sensitivity of the matter.

By seeking a meeting with President Ruto, the MP appears to be pushing for a higher-level resolution mechanism that could help de-escalate tensions and restore clarity.

He noted that the situation has the potential to fuel division if left unresolved, particularly given its public and political dimensions.

Legal experts, however, caution that estate disputes are best handled through established judicial processes to ensure fairness and adherence to the law.

While political mediation can help ease tensions, courts remain the primary avenue for determining rightful ownership and resolving inheritance conflicts.

The controversy also comes against the backdrop of heightened political sensitivities in the Mt Kenya region, where leadership disputes and shifting alliances have been under intense scrutiny.

Any issue involving prominent figures or influential families tends to attract broader attention, often blurring the line between legal matters and political narratives.

Wamumbi reiterated his willingness to cooperate with any lawful process aimed at resolving the dispute, maintaining that transparency is essential to clearing his name.

He urged those involved to prioritize dialogue and legal clarity rather than speculation and public accusations.
