During its 9:00 p.m. news bulletin, Citizen TV replayed an old clip of former President Uhuru Kenyatta (shown above) from 2020, in which he warned that if Kenyans were misled by politicians instead of genuine leaders, the country could end up in turmoil by the 2022 elections.
In the footage, Uhuru compares leadership transition to a relay race, where participants patiently wait to receive the baton from their teammates. He also expressed concern that some politicians were touring the country making unrealistic promises, especially to young people who were still in school.
The remarks have resurfaced amid growing public dissatisfaction, with some Kenyans feeling that President William Ruto and his deputy may have failed to deliver on their promises, putting the current administration under increasing pressure.
