Popular Mother in Law actress Sophia Muhia, widely known to viewers as Maria, has opened up about the painful collapse of her marriage, revealing the shocking words her husband told her after she became pregnant with their third child.

Speaking in a recent interview, Maria recounted how what should have been a joyful chapter in her life instead marked the beginning of the end of her 16-year marriage.According to the actress, her husband’s attitude changed completely when she became pregnant with their last-born child.

She said her husband opposed the pregnancy and told her that she should raise the baby with the person who had encouraged her to have a third child.

The remarks left her hurt and confused as she struggled to understand the sudden change in his behaviour.

Maria revealed that she married at the age of 19 and welcomed her first child two years later. She later had a second child and believed her family was stable.

However, when she became pregnant again at 33, tensions began to emerge in the marriageAt first, she thought her husband’s reaction was linked to the nine-year gap between their second and third children and hoped he would eventually accept the situation.

Instead, he walked away from the family, leaving her to raise their three children on her own.

The separation was followed by serious financial challenges.

Maria disclosed that she lost her home in Nairobi’s Komarock Estate after struggling with debt, forcing her to rebuild her life while coping with the emotional pain of a broken marriage.

Her difficulties worsened during the Covid-19 pandemic, when restrictions halted events and gatherings that many entertainers depended on for income.

She explained that work opportunities disappeared for long periods, leaving her without a reliable source of earnings.Plans to resume filming Mother in Law were also disrupted by renewed Covid 19 restrictions.

The actress also expressed concern over unemployment in Kenya, noting that even her children had faced difficulties finding stable jobs.

Despite the hardships, Maria’s journey remains a story of resilience.

Through heartbreak, financial setbacks and the challenges brought by the pandemic, she has continued to push forward, inspiring many Kenyans with her determination to overcome adversity and rebuild her life.
