A Nairobi resident is seeking public assistance after losing his ATM card to a woman on the night of Friday, 2 January 2026, leading to the withdrawal of Ksh 70,000 in two separate transactions at an Equity Bank ATM in Kawangware.The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, said the woman approached him while he was using his card and later tricked him into leaving her alone in Satelight, Riruta.
According to his account, she told him she was going to a friend’s house with a key, leaving him in his car with an empty purse.
Moments later, he realized his ATM card was missing. Before he could block the card, the suspect had already withdrawn Ksh 40,000 and Ksh 30,000 in two separate transactions.
The incident has been formally reported to Riruta Police Station, where an Occurrence Book entry has been filed, and investigations are ongoing.
The victim has obtained CCTV images from the bank showing the woman at the ATM and is sharing them publicly in a bid to track her down.
He has also offered a reward of Ksh 15,000 to anyone who can provide information leading to her identification, including her house number, estate, or current location.Authorities and the victim urge members of the public to exercise caution and report any information that may lead to the suspect’s arrest.
This case serves as a reminder to remain vigilant while conducting financial transactions and to report suspicious activity immediately to both banks and law enforcement agencies.
The victim emphasized the importance of exposing the suspect to prevent similar incidents and ensure that justice is served.
