Nnan

Kenyan woman’s home CCTV footage has sparked lively debate online, after it captured her newly hired nanny dancing on living room furniture while she believed she was alone in the house.

The video, shared on TikTok by a woman identified as Chidima, shows the domestic worker engaging in an unexpected performance during working hours, unaware that security cameras had recorded her every move. The clip has since attracted thousands of views and comments across social media.

According to Chidima, the nanny had only recently started working at the home and did not know CCTV cameras had been installed.

Curious to see what happened around the house while she was away, Chidima reviewed the footage and was left surprised by what she found.

The recording shows the nanny, dressed in a colourful long outfit, walking into the living room before climbing onto a brown sofa barefoot.

She then begins dancing enthusiastically on the couch for several moments, appearing to enjoy herself without any concern that she was being watched.

After stepping down, she walks over to lock one of the doors before returning to the living room. The nanny is then seen sitting briefly on the sofa’s backrest before standing up to continue dancing.

Once she had finished, she carefully arranged the cushions back into their original position, making it appear as though nothing unusual had happened. Chidima later posted the footage online with the caption, “What kind of nanny is this?”

The video quickly divided opinion among Kenyans. Some viewers criticised the nanny for climbing on household furniture, saying it showed a lack of professionalism and respect for her employer’s property.

Others took a lighter view, arguing that she had harmed no one and was simply entertaining herself while alone. They noted that she tidied up afterwards and resumed her duties, questioning whether the incident warranted public criticism.

The viral clip has also reignited conversations about the use of CCTV cameras in homes, with many discussing privacy, trust and expectations between employers and domestic workers.

As the debate continues, opinions remain sharply divided over whether the nanny’s actions were harmless fun or crossed the line.
