A chilling CCTV clip from Nairobi’s Umoja One estate has ignited public outrage after a violent confrontation ended in the death of a popular gym trainer, days after the assault. The footage, recorded on December 22, 2025, shows the final moments that led to the fatal injuries of Alphy Migasha, a familiar face in the local fitness scene.

Migasha was seated outside a liquor outlet when he was approached by Nicholas Ireri Njue, identified by witnesses as a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier recently back from deployment in Somalia. According to sources close to the matter, Ireri suspected Migasha of having an affair with his wife. What began as a brief exchange of words quickly spiraled out of control.

The video captures Ireri grabbing Migasha, hurling him to the ground, and raining blows on him as shocked onlookers hesitate, then attempt to intervene. Moments later, Ireri is seen walking away, leaving Migasha writhing in pain on the pavement.

Migasha was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital with multiple injuries, including fractured ribs, a broken leg, and severe chest trauma. Despite treatment, his condition deteriorated, and he died days later. A post-mortem conducted by government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor attributed the cause of death to a blood clot in the lung, consistent with injuries sustained during the assault.

The victim’s family has accused Buruburu police of dragging their feet despite what they say is clear video evidence and a known suspect. “We know who did this, and he’s still walking free,” a family representative said, calling for immediate action.

Police say investigations are ongoing and insist due process must be followed. Meanwhile, community leaders in Umoja have urged calm, warning that delayed justice could inflame tensions.

As the footage continues to circulate online, the case has reopened difficult questions about accountability, violence fueled by personal disputes, and whether the law applies equally to those in uniform. For Umoja residents, the loss of Migasha is more than a headline—it’s a wound that refuses to close.
