Residents of Thome village in Kawelu sub-location, Kibwea location, were left in utter shock after news emerged that a 43-year-old man, Mumo Musyoka, had been brutally attacked and killed — allegedly by his own son.

According to preliminary reports, police officers from Mutomo sub-county in Kitui South constituency have launched investigations into the gruesome incident.

The lifeless body of Musyoka was discovered with deep wounds, reportedly inflicted by crude weapons and stones during a nighttime altercation.

Eyewitnesses claim that screams were heard coming from the homestead late into the night.

By morning, the father was found dead, sparking fear and disbelief throughout the quiet village.

“It’s unimaginable. We can’t believe a son could do this to his own father,” said one villager, who described Musyoka as a quiet and hardworking man.

The suspect, whose identity is being withheld pending formal charges, is said to have fled the scene shortly after the incident.

A manhunt has been launched, with police urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to his arrest.

Area leaders and community elders have condemned the incident, calling for calm and cooperation with authorities as investigations continue.

They also urged parents and children to resolve domestic issues peacefully and to seek counseling when tensions arise.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Mutomo Mission Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem examination.
