President William Ruto has finally spoken about the growing speculation surrounding a possible Cabinet reshuffle, but stopped short of revealing whether any Cabinet Secretaries will lose their positions. His remarks come as political tension rises following a High Court ruling requiring the Executive to comply with the constitutional two-thirds gender principle.
Speaking during the Katiba Day celebrations in Nairobi, the Head of State said implementing court decisions is a gradual process and should not be viewed as something that happens overnight. He compared the ruling to previous constitutional decisions, insisting that some reforms take time before they are fully achieved.
The court recently declared the current Cabinet unconstitutional, saying it does not meet the required gender balance under Article 27 of the Constitution. Judges gave the President 120 days to reorganize his Cabinet, placing the government under pressure to make changes before the deadline expires.
