According to the weather department’s advisory, rain is expected to begin gradually and intensify as the week progresses. The forecast covers a wide swath of Kenya, highlighting diverse regions that will experience precipitation from the highlands of Central Kenya to the fertile basins of the Rift Valley and Lake Victoria.

Central Kenya: Counties including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi are set to receive sustained rainfall over the forecast period.

The incoming rains come after a prolonged dry spell in many parts of the country, offering relief for farmers and water resources but also posing flood and storm risks in low‑lying and poorly drained areas. Roads, homes, and agricultural lands could be affected if the downpours intensify as predicted.

Authorities are urging residents to stay updated through official channels, avoid driving through floodwaters, and take precautions against storm‑related hazards throughout the forecast period.

With weather conditions fluctuating rapidly, the coming days will be a test of preparedness for communities across Kenya from urban centers to rural landscapes.

Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley & Western Kenya: Heavy downpours are likely in Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties.

North Eastern Region: Moderate rainfall is expected in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties.

South Eastern Lowlands & Coast: Residents in Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Taita‑Taveta, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale should also prepare for showers and possibly heavier rain at times.

Alongside the rainfall forecast, KMD warns of notably lower night‑time temperatures in the highland and Rift Valley areas, with some regions dipping to chilly lows as the rains persist.

Meanwhile, daytime temperatures are expected to remain high especially in the Northeastern and Coastal counties, where thermometers could soar toward 35–37°C.
