Photos of Abigael Nafula, a businesswoman from Bungoma County whose death has left her family devastated, have surfaced as relatives continue to demand justice and answers over the circumstances surrounding her killing.
Nafula was found dead in a lodging room on April 30 after employees entered the room during routine cleaning. She was discovered inside the bathroom with an object around her neck, leading to initial suspicions that she had taken her own life.
However, a postmortem examination later revealed that her neck had been broken and twisted, findings that pointed to homicide rather than suicide.
Her death has plunged her family and the wider Kimilili community into mourning.
Relatives describe her as a caring mother, hard-working professional, and dedicated family member whose life was cut short unexpectedly.
According to family members, Nafula had separated from her husband, a Kenya Defence Forces officer, after years of marital difficulties. The couple, who married in 2013 after meeting shortly after Nafula completed secondary school, reportedly experienced growing tensions in recent years.
The family claims that after living apart for some time, the officer sought reconciliation and convinced Nafula to meet him in an effort to rebuild their relationship.
Hoping to create a stable future for their daughter, she reportedly agreed.
Relatives say the pair travelled together and later took their daughter to boarding school before spending time together.
Shortly afterward, communication with Nafula abruptly stopped.Concern grew when family members received messages indicating that she had arrived home safely, yet all efforts to reach her proved unsuccessful.
Days later, police informed them that she had been found dead.
The family insists that the theory of suicide is inconsistent with the medical findings and is calling for a thorough investigation into the case.
They want authorities to establish exactly what happened and ensure that anyone responsible is brought to justice.
As investigations continue, Nafula’s relatives remain determined to uncover the truth behind her death and secure justice in her memory.
