Police in Laikipia East finally overpowered bandits after hours of manhunt and intense gunfight.

The police successfully recovered stolen livestock following a confrontation with armed bandits.

The operation, coordinated by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Doldol police station, was initiated after a report of theft in the area.

A multi-agency team, which included officers from the National Police Service (NPS) and various security units including KDF, quickly responded to the theft that had alarmed local pastoralist communities.

While operating near Ol-Kinyei Dam, officers came across a group of armed bandits believed to be responsible for the livestock theft.

The security personnel engaged with the suspects, who, overwhelmed, abandoned the stolen animals as they fled the scene, fearing fir their lives.

Several cows were recovered in good condition and were subsequently escorted to Kiwanja Ndege Shopping Centre, where they were returned to their rightful owner.

This recovery provided relief to the affected community, which have been terrorised by bandits in a very long time.
