Bahati recently came face-to-face with a woman identified as Judith Makokha, who has publicly claimed to be his biological mother — a revelation that has ignited intense debate across social media.
A Viral Appeal
The issue first surfaced in late 2025 when Judith released an emotional video pleading with the artist for forgiveness.
In the clip, she alleged that she abandoned her son years ago due to extreme financial hardship. According to her account, she placed the baby in a children’s home with the intention of reclaiming him once she became financially stable.
The video quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions. Some Kenyans expressed sympathy, while others questioned the credibility of her claims.
Bahati responded cautiously. He maintained that he personally witnessed the burial of the woman he had always believed to be his biological mother. He also highlighted inconsistencies in Judith’s narrative, particularly regarding tribal identity. Having grown up identifying as Akamba, he found it difficult to reconcile that with Judith’s Luhya background.
Still, he acknowledged feeling compassion after learning that she had allegedly attempted to contact his brother for several years.

Despite his reservations, Bahati agreed to meet Judith in person. During their initial meeting, he reportedly bought her groceries and gave her space to share her story in detail.
Judith recounted that during her pregnancy, she was living with another woman who allegedly made it clear she could not accommodate both her and a newborn. She said that after travelling to Waruku, she met women who sympathised with her situation and offered guidance.
One of them allegedly advised her to temporarily place the baby in a children’s institution until she regained stability.
Judith claimed that when she later returned to retrieve her child, she was informed that the baby was no longer there — a moment she described as devastating. Maintaining that she strongly believes Bahati could be her son, she requested a DNA test to establish the truth.
Awaiting Scientific Confirmation
Bahati stated that while her account appeared heartfelt, he neither wanted to accept nor dismiss it without proper verification. He stressed the need for due process and said they identified a credible medical facility to conduct a DNA test.
“At the moment, I have no specific expectation,” he said, adding that he is prepared for any outcome. The results, he noted, are expected within 14 days.
