Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has spoken out to dismiss reports that he plans to leave the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party ahead of the 2027 general elections. The outspoken legislator clarified that he remains loyal to ODM and its leader Raila Odinga, insisting that his political journey is still firmly rooted in the party that gave him a platform to serve the people. He termed the allegations as baseless propaganda meant to create divisions within the opposition camp.

Babu Owino emphasized that his commitment to ODM’s ideology and vision for Kenya’s development has not changed. He explained that his focus is on strengthening the party’s grassroots networks and ensuring youth empowerment remains a priority in national politics. The MP accused political rivals of spreading falsehoods to undermine his growing influence, particularly among young voters.

He also noted that his close interactions with leaders from other Azimio coalition parties, including Wiper, should not be misinterpreted as defection. According to him, unity among opposition parties is crucial for defeating the ruling coalition in 2027. Babu maintained that he supports efforts to consolidate Azimio’s strength rather than weaken it through unnecessary political gossip.

The lawmaker’s clarification comes amid increased political realignments as leaders prepare for the next election cycle. His statement seeks to reaffirm loyalty and dispel rumors that could distract from ODM’s broader strategy of revitalizing its support base and ensuring Raila’s legacy continues to inspire future leadership.
