Kikuyu gospel musician, Ngaruiya Junior, has come out to reveal that he was approached by Azimio to dump William Ruto and join the Azimio faction. Ngaruiya has said that he was offered a good deal and at some point he was tempted to take it.
The artist has disclosed that he was convinced by another musician, Muigai wa Njoroge, not to take the money. Junior says that Muigai had also been approached with a similar offer but he stood his ground.
“A group of artists from the Azimio faction approached me and offered to give me Ksh 5 million if I defected to their faction. I refused to take the offer because I still felt much attached to Ruto, who I had worked for a long time. I told the artists that I would only take 20 million for me to join them. I said this to make them give up and feel that I was not worth the money and inturn they would stop persuading me,” narrated Ngaruiya.
“After sometime, they came to me again and offered me a deal of 15 million that would be paid in installments. At first I thought it was a bad joke but it wasn’t. I begun getting tempted to take the deal especially at this time because our Kenya Kwanza side had started struggling with finances and they could only offer fuel for us. I informed my friend Muigai wa Njoroge, who we were working with, and he told me that a similar offer of higher amount had been offered to him but had refused to take it. It’s at this time I also decided to turn down the deal and stick in our camp,” added Junior.
Ngaruiya has said that he is happy now that he never accepted the money offer which he says would have made him live with regrets for the rest of his life. Recently, Ngaruiya who also works as a MC, was one of the master of ceremonies during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens.
“I thank God I never accepted the offer. I could have lived with regrets the rest of my life for betraying my friend the last minute. How could I be facing him now when he is president?” Stated the artist.
