A Junior Secondary School pupil reportedly came up with an unusual plan to escape punishment for skipping lessons, only for his scheme to unravel after his teacher recognised the man he had hired to pose as his father.
According to an account circulating on social media, the teacher had instructed the pupil not to return to her class until he brought his parent to explain his repeated absence from lessons.
The pupil allegedly agreed to the demand but decided against involving his actual parent. Instead, he reportedly devised a plan to convince the teacher that his family was taking the matter seriously.
The following morning, he arrived at the school staff room accompanied by a man dressed in an oversized suit, whom he confidently introduced as his father.
The man reportedly played along, apologising for the pupil’s behaviour and promising to discipline him at home to ensure he attended classes regularly.
Initially, the explanation appeared convincing. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when the teacher took a closer look at the supposed parent and recognised him.
According to the viral story, the man was a boda boda rider who regularly dropped her off at the school gate every morning.
The rider also reportedly recognised the teacher, making it difficult for him to continue pretending to be the pupil’s father. In an embarrassing moment, he allegedly exclaimed, “Aunty Teacher!” before fleeing the staff room.
His sudden escape reportedly exposed the pupil’s plan, bringing the attempted deception to an abrupt end.
The account further claims that the pupil had paid the rider KSh1,000 to wear a suit and accompany him to school for the meeting.
The incident has sparked amusement among social media users, with some praising the pupil’s creativity while others questioned the decision to involve the rider in the scheme.
Others have sympathised with the rider, who allegedly found himself in an awkward situation while attempting to earn extra money.
Despite the humour surrounding the story, it highlights the lengths some pupils may go to avoid taking responsibility for their behaviour.
The identities of those involved and the school where the incident allegedly occurred have not been independently verified.
