Questions are mounting over a fatal shooting involving a bodyguard assigned to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed.

The officer, identified as Muhammed Yusuf Keinan, allegedly shot and killed a man in Muthangari, Nairobi, on Sunday night, prompting an investigation by Muthangari Police Station officers.

According to a police report, Keinan was walking home around 8:00 p.m. when he was confronted by three men.

During the encounter, one of the individuals reportedly snatched Keinan’s Ceska pistol (serial number F4899), leading to a struggle.

The bodyguard managed to regain control of the firearm and fired multiple shots into the air in an attempt to disperse the group.

However, the altercation turned deadly, resulting in the shooting of 38-year-old Amos Lang’at, who succumbed to his injuries. The other two men reportedly fled the scene on a motorbike.

Keinan sustained injuries on his arm during the confrontation and has since been disarmed.

He is currently receiving medical treatment as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The body of the deceased has been transferred to Chiromo Mortuary.

Detectives are now piecing together evidence to determine whether Keinan acted in self-defense or if other factors were involved.

Police have yet to make any arrests but plan to revisit the crime scene, interview witnesses, and review any available CCTV footage.
