Nelly Oaks responded to rumors about him mistreating his staff and not paying them at a Karen nightclub associated with him. On Thursday night, a popular Instagram gossip channel claimed that employees at the newly opened 727 restaurant accused the calm businessman and internet personality of improper behavior and unfair treatment.
The outlet wrote, “Former boyfriend of Akothee, Nelly Oaks, has been exposed by his employees at his 727 restaurant and bar for poor management, mistreatment of staff, and not paying them their salaries.”
However, in a statement, Nelly Oaks denied any wrongdoing. He clarified that he wasn’t the actual owner of the mentioned establishment and had severed all business connections with it at least three weeks ago.
He stated, “I have no formal association with 727 Bar and Restaurants or its previous owners. I joined as a marketing consultant when the investment opportunity was presented. However, the place did not meet my brand standards, and I have no contractual obligations to the employees there.”
Nelly’s statement emphasized that he hadn’t directly interacted with any of the establishment’s employees and was only aware of a recent break-in case that occurred after he had disengaged from the business.
He added, “I did not conduct any interviews. I distance myself from formal management or misconduct. What I can confirm is that there is a reported break-in incident from last week, which happened after I ended my involvement.”
In a subsequent conversation with this writer, Nelly reiterated that he had no ongoing agreements with the establishment and explained that, after careful consideration, he had decided not to pursue the partnership.
“The misunderstanding is that I am the owner of the place, which I am not. I don’t even personally know any of the disgruntled employees. The management of the place approached me to be a partner, but I declined the offer after thinking it over. In fact, I haven’t been associated with the premises for almost a month now,” he clarified.
Nelly, an accomplished entrepreneur, manages several businesses in Nairobi and Mombasa. He recently attended the launch of Akothee’s daughter’s club in an upscale area of Nairobi as one of the main guests.
