Akothee, a Kenyan celeb and businesswoman, got real about raising her daughter, Fancy Makadia. It’s a heartfelt look back as Fancy starts her married life.
Akothee said Fancy has always been sensitive, growing up in a complicated family situation. She admitted it wasn’t a walk in the park raising her kids through several failed relationships. Though, she believes they formed a super strong bond as a result. She thinks it helped Fancy become the tough, independent woman she is now.
She remembers how much it hurt when Fancy kept asking about her dad. Akothee often didn’t have answers and would go cry about it in her room. Fancy’s father had started a new family, and Akothee felt like she was bothering him when she called. But his absence left a void.
To keep Fancy from feeling unloved, Akothee sometimes bought gifts and pretended they were from her dad. She also tried to keep her kids occupied with activities so they wouldn’t think about what they were missing.
Akothee also talked about when another child came along; Fancy was scared she would be loved less. Akothee reassured her that a mom’s love never changes. Eventually, the family got used to the change and found happiness.
Now that Fancy is getting married, Akothee is super happy and calls her a lifelong partner in crime. She’s celebrating the amazing woman Fancy has become, despite all the tough times.
