Kenyan singer and entrepreneur Akothee said it’s tiring to always have to defend yourself.

She said she’s thankful for the people who stand up for her when she’s not around, but it feels both strong and tiring at the same time. Akothee said loneliness can hit even when around people.

She’s always careful and unsure who to trust after facing many letdowns.

She spoke about a struggle many women face, especially those with childhood trauma that still hasn’t healed.

For them, even a mother’s hug can feel distant or out of reach.She said some people feel tension when they ask for comfort.

In her post, Akothee said she looks to Her Excellency Dr Lyne Nyamwaya, Mama Kisumu County, for support.Whenever she needs comfort, she just calls out, “Mum, iko kure?”Dr Nyamwaya quickly asks if she can get to Kisumu.

Akothee said she would catch the next flight to be with her and feel the love, acceptance, and warmth only she could give.

She said those moments felt healing, as the plain comfort of a hug held deep emotional meaning.Thank you so much, Dr Lyne Nyamwaya.

Akothee said that hug meant a lot, showing how much she values the care and connection she feels.

She named March Akothee’s Hug Month because hugs and emotional support mean a lot to her.

Akothee asks people to think about how important empathy, love, and human connection really are.
