Renowned Kenyan singer and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has announced a pause on all her projects, citing health struggles that have left her physically and emotionally drained.

Struggles with Burnout and Headaches
The award-winning artist revealed that she has been experiencing sharp headaches that affect her moods and have remained unresponsive to painkillers. She admitted that the past year has been particularly difficult, with the last two months proving overwhelming.

“I have been battling severe burnout and sharp headaches that keep affecting my moods. It has been a rough year with no breaks, and the past two months have been especially overwhelming,” she said.

Akothee explained that despite efforts to keep up with her busy schedule, including the use of multivitamins, energy drinks, and medical interventions, her body has reached its limit. She disclosed that after her recent performance in Malindi, she was unable to get out of bed for two days.

“As a result, all projects are suspended until I regain my energy,” she announced.

Packed Schedule
The mother of five has been juggling multiple responsibilities, including managing her businesses, pursuing her music career, spearheading charity initiatives through the Akothee Foundation, and handling various brand partnerships.

Her most recent engagements included participating in the Devolution Conference in Homa Bay County and the Great Roan Half-Marathon, both of which added to her demanding schedule.

Family Commitments
Beyond her professional life, Akothee has also had an eventful year on the family front.

In March 2025, she traveled to France for her daughter Fancy Makadia’s marriage signing ceremony, paving the way for the wedding months later. Together with her fiancé Nelly Oaks and her daughters Vesha Okello and Rue Baby, Akothee played a central role in the glamorous wedding celebrations in June, where she gifted the couple a house and shared financial wisdom for their new journey.

Celebrating Cultural Roots
Despite the challenges, Akothee has continued to honor her Luo heritage through her music. Her latest release is an afro-fusion track that celebrates her cultural roots, resilience, and identity. The song also pays tribute to the sacrifices and contributions of Luo heroes in Kenya’s history.

In the music video, Akothee dons traditional regalia, showcasing the vibrancy of Luo culture while taking fans on a journey through the community’s way of life.
