Peter Nyong’o, the son of Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, caught the attention of social media with his unconventional fashion choices.
A photograph of him wearing a red thong, matching heels, makeup, and lipstick sparked a wide range of reactions. The photo-shoot, titled What if Adam was Eve?, was created by photographer Lyra Aoko to challenge gender clothing stereotypes.
Nyong’o, also known as Junior Nyong’o, is the younger brother of Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o and Zawadi Nyong’o. His bold fashion choices have often drawn mixed reactions from the public.
In a recent event, he made headlines again by wearing a flowing red maxi dress to a music festival in Nairobi, matching with his girlfriend, singer Wanja Wohoro.
His Instagram followers had mixed opinions, with some questioning his choice. One user asked, “Is he gay?” while another jokingly commented, “Is that Lupita, or did you borrow her dress?”
Responding to a comment about his outfit, Nyong’o wrote on Instagram, “There is no thought process my G. If a piece of clothing looks good, it looks good.” He also defended his style on Twitter, where he goes by the name Flower Boy, ending with an Ariana Grande reference.
Nyong’o has always expressed himself through unique fashion statements. He previously made waves by wearing a kanga head wrap and a septum piercing while accompanying his sister Lupita on the red carpet for Star Wars premieres.
His style icon is Ezra Miller, who is known for wearing bold outfits, including a gown-slash-puffer coat at a red-carpet event.
Peter Nyong’o studied at Stetson University in Florida, USA, where he earned a diploma.
He is a performer and received the Majorie Foster Gilbert Award for Outstanding Student Performer, similar to his sister Lupita. Aside from his love for fashion, he enjoys reading, watching TV shows and movies, and playing soccer.
His unique fashion choices continue to spark discussions, but he remains confident in his style, breaking barriers and redefining norms in the world of fashion.
