Shock and outrage have gripped the nation following the gruesome murder of Gilbert Kinyua Muthoni at Kenyatta National Hospital’s neurology ward an incident that has ignited fierce debate about security in public hospitals. The Level 7B ward once a place of healing is now under the shadow of horror.

On that fateful day 7th February 2025 Gilbert was found with his throat slit his bed drenched in blood. A kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered on a nearby rooftop as if tossed away in a hurried escape.

Blood trails stretched across the floor, sparking questions about how such a brutal act could occur unnoticed in a government facility.

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen assured Parliament and the public that investigations are underway.

While no foreign DNA was found on the roommate once a prime suspect many Kenyans remain sceptical, demanding transparency and swift action.

 

Murkomen now promises sweeping reforms, including CCTV surveillance, stricter ward access and enhanced forensic support.
