David Gatana, the personal assistant to Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi, has been arrested. Police officers arrested him at his home in Gachororo, Kiambu County, early Tuesday morning. The Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome Kanja, confirmed the arrest.

Details about the reason for the arrest are still unclear. However, IG Kanja said the police are carrying out investigations and more information will be shared soon.

“Yes, David Gatana was arrested. He is helping us with investigations,” said IG Kanja in a short statement.

Residents in Gachororo said they saw several police vehicles near Gatana’s house early in the morning. Some neighbors said the police arrived quietly and left shortly after taking him into custody.

Gatana is well known in the area as the close assistant to MP George Koimburi. He often represents the MP at public events and helps with matters related to the constituency.

The arrest has caused tension among some residents and supporters of the Juja MP. Many are now asking why he was taken and what charges he might face. Some believe the arrest may be political, while others are waiting for official updates from the police or the MP’s office.

So far, MP Koimburi has not spoken publicly about the matter.

The police have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading false information as investigations continue.
