Phillip Aroko, a businessman and politician, is now seen as the main suspect in the killing of a Member of Parliament (MP).
The prosecution says Aroko not only threatened the MP before the murder but may have also helped pay for the crime. Investigators believe his money played a big role in the planning and execution of the assassination.
The case took a major turn when the High Court ordered the Inspector General of Police to find and produce Aroko, who had been missing.
Just hours after the order was made, police brought Aroko to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Court at 3 p.m.
Authorities had been looking for Aroko after he disappeared during the early stages of the investigation.
His absence raised questions and increased suspicions. After days without answers, the court had to step in and demand his appearance.
Police now believe Aroko’s threats against the MP were serious and not just political talk.
Along with those threats, his financial connections to the people suspected of carrying out the murder have made him a key figure in the case.
Investigators are examining phone records, bank transactions, and meetings he held before the crime.
At the JKIA court, Aroko appeared calm as police officers handed him over to the court officials.
The court is expected to decide whether he will remain in custody as investigations continue. The prosecution says they have enough early evidence to keep him held for more questioning.
The killing of the MP shocked the nation, and the public has been demanding justice. With Aroko now in police custody, investigators hope to get more answers.
His involvement, both in making threats and possibly funding the murder, could be a major breakthrough in solving the case.
