Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has caused a stir after claiming that many Members of Parliament are stealing Constituency Development Funds (CDF) to live expensive lifestyles.
According to a recent report, Sudi said some MPs are under pressure to show off wealth like their colleagues.
This pressure, he claimed, has led many to misuse funds meant for development projects.
“Most MPs are stealing CDF money because they want to live lavishly like others,” Sudi stated.
He explained that some lawmakers feel the need to drive expensive cars, dress in designer clothes, and hold flashy events, all in an effort to look powerful.
These remarks have sparked reactions from the public, who are already upset by slow development and widespread corruption.
CDF is supposed to help build schools, clinics, roads, and other projects at the grassroots level, but there have been many cases of poor management and missing funds.
Many kenyans and some political analyst ms have been urging the government to increase oversight on how CDF money is used. They also want MPs to be more open and responsible with public funds.
