Nation Media Group (NMG) is making big changes to keep up with how people in Kenya and beyond now consume news.

Editor-in-Chief Joe Ageyo has shared an internal message saying the company must adjust to new audience habits and content needs.

As more people turn to digital platforms, NMG is looking to stay relevant and connect better with its readers.

To support this goal, NMG has brought in new, bold voices. One of them is Hanifa, a strong critic of the Kenya Kwanza government on social media.

She has now joined the Daily Nation as a columnist. On Tuesday, April 22, she posted her first article online, titled We’re not going anywhere, and we won’t wait for your permission.

The piece reflects her fearless and direct style, which has made her popular with many online followers.

Another new addition is Nelson Amenya, known for revealing key details about the controversial Adani deal.

His efforts drew national attention and sparked major public debate. Amenya now also holds a position at NMG’s headquarters on Kimathi Street, Nairobi.

These appointments show NMG’s focus on bringing in strong voices that challenge the status quo.

The company hopes that by including people like Hanifa and Amenya, it will attract new audiences and remain a trusted source of information.

This move highlights a wider shift in Kenya’s media scene, where traditional media houses are opening their doors to influencers, whistleblowers, and outspoken public figures.

It also signals that journalism is no longer just about reporting facts it’s also about giving space to opinion leaders who shape conversations online.
